To Pull a Mr. Fox

When you give a compliment, quickly followed by a rationalization of the circumstances, which takes away all the joy of the compliment.
Origins of how "to pull a Mr. Fox"; from The Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl -

Mr. Fox to Ms. Fox: "By the way, you look unbelievably beautiful tonight. You're practically glowing." He then looks up and around him. "Maybe it's the lighting."
Commonly used between two BFFs, Mr Fox originated from the film, 'Vacancy.' In a scene where a man (Mr Fox) is trying to call the police because someone is trying to kill him in a hotel. Mr Fox is unknowingly speaking to the killer on the phone, until the man proceeds to call him by his name 'Mr Fox,' thus giving away the fact that he is infact the killer. Mr Fox then proceeds to run out of the phone booth towards his hotel room whilst the killer chases him in his car.

This name is not to be confused with 'Fantastic Mr Fox' which is a children's novel written by Roald Dahl, first published in the US by Alfred A. Knopf in 1970 with illustrations by Donald Chaffin.
Mason: 911 Emergency?

David Fox: Yeah, hello. We need some help. Some people are trying to kill us. Mason: Where are you located, sir? David Fox: Me and my wife, we're at this motel, the Pinewood Motel. It's near the mountains. They've got us trapped.

Mason: Who has you trapped, sir? David Fox: I don't know. We just need help. The Pinewood Motel.

Mason: Yes, sir. Do you have an address? David Fox: No! It's near some woods. Jesus Christ, look it up!

Mason: You're going to need to settle down, sir. You'll never survive if you lose control, Mr Fox. (David realizes he's talking to Mason.)

Mason: You shouldn't be wandering around in the dark by yourself.

Mary: Hoy!
Jen: Mr fox... is that you?
Mary: IT'S MR FOX!
Jen: OH EM GEE MR FOX!

Fantastic Mr Fox Syndrome

The feeling that you have to act as this incredible person to you're friends and that you always want to go out and do things, but in actuality its just the image they have painted of you . They expect when you're not with them you're still out late drinking, partying and trying to get laid, but you're actually just trying you're best to live day to day and someone they wouldn't know.
"Hey did you hear about jerry"
"No what?"
"He's not like us at all"
"He's being giving us Fantastic Mr Fox Syndrome?"
"Yep"

'Fantastic mr.fox'

Pulling a 'Fantastic mr.fox' is when someone does something that's great for them at the moment, but terrible for them in the long run.
Guy 1: "Did you hear about Freddy from work?"
Guy 2: "Yeah, he told the boss to go fuck himself, definitely pulled a 'fantastic mr.fox' there."

trucker's tan

A sunburn or suntan focused on the left arm. It is caused by the left side of the body being the only half that gets exposed to sunlight while driving. Presumably, it would be located on the right side of the body in countries where they drive on the left side of the road.
I had a trucker's tan after driving for 10 straight hours on a sunny day.

British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”

Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
According to the boffins downstairs, the murderer used a serrated blade.

Pee Calculus

When you have to pee in a movie but don’t want to miss anything, and must do the following mental equation: will the amount I have to pee cause enough discomfort to diminish my attention capacity for the remainder of the movie to an extent which is greater than the amount of the movie I would miss by making a mad dash to the restroom.
I saw Satantango last night, wonderful film but by the 5th hour I had to start doing pee calculus.
