A member of the beat counterculture, or one who lives a beat lifestyle. Similar to a hippie. The term comes from Jack Kerouac's book "The Dharma Bums." (Japhy is the name of a character, modeled after Kerouac’s friend Gary Snyder.)

Jam comes in a variety of flavours: including Strawberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, Gooseberry, Plum and Rhubarb. The term was coined in 2020, by Tony John Williams.
