hickism

A disease common among residents of rural areas, causing the victim to become a hick.(see hick for reference)

The cause is not yet known, but many believe that the symptoms themselves will lead to a development of full hickism.

Symptoms include but are not limited to: living on / owning a farm, listening to country music, having a strange attraction to tractors, lawnmowers, old trucks, etc., owning an old dog (such as a basset hound), chewing on hay, wearing 'cowboy' hats, attending / participating in rodeos, and drinking cheaper beer.

As of right now, there is no known cure. Some speculate that playing classic rock and offering beter beer will help cure some of the symptoms, but this has yet to be proven as a reliable remedy.

Earl was driving in his tractor and heard on his AM radio that he may be a victim of hickism.

Hickish

Something such as an action or an item that relates to the hick or redneck culture.

Drinking moonshine while shooting your rifle into the air is viewed as a hickish deed.

Hickiom

An idiom used and often only understood by hicks.

Examples of a Hickiom:
1. "Dang Jim Bob, I'm sweatin' more than a pregnant nun on sunday service!" (It's hot out/in here)
2. "Ol' Chuck gone and lost his job, now he ain't got a pot to piss in or a window to through it out of" (He/she/they are poor)
3. "Hey Pa, where'd Ma go?"
"She went to shit and the hogs got her" (I don't know, go look)
4. "Lester, you don't know your ass from a whole in the ground" (You are not very smart)
5. "You couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a handful o' rice!" (You have a lousy aim)
