Emanzipation

Besagtes Wort stammt aus dem Lateinischen und bedeutet soviel wie Entlassung in die Eigenständigkeit/eigenständig werden, es bezeichnet den Vorgang der Befreiung aus einer Abhängigkeit.
Im Sprachgebrauch wird Emanzipation meist in Bezug auf die Rechte der Frauen angewendet, beispielsweise konnte ein Ehemann das Dienstverhältnis seiner Gattin bis 1958 entscheiden. Durch das Gleichberechtigungsgesetz wurde dieses Recht aufgehoben, jedoch durften verheiratete Frauen bis 1977 in Westdeutschland nur dann berufstätig sein, wenn ihre Pflichten in Ehe und Familie nicht beeinträchtigt würden.
