One of the six boroughs of
Toronto, hence the name "the 6ix". Located east of the borough of Old
Toronto, south of the borough of North York and west of the borough of Scarborough, East York is generally considered to be
2 distinct parts. The first part is what is usually referred to as East York: the "traditional" part of the borough situated southeast of the
Don River, which includes areas like O'Connor and some parts of the Danforth, and Leaside, the part situated northwest of the
Don River, which includes cute boutiques and patisseries along Bayview Avenue, as well as more expensive housing. Houses are also very close to each other. East York is known for
happy and hospitable
people, for wonderful Christmas decorations, sense of community and a general cute
vibe unmatched anywhere else in Toronto.
On a side note, East York is NOT to be confused with the Danforth. While both areas are closely related, the Danforth is part of the borough of Old Toronto, not East York. The general area can be referred to as "East York-Danforth" or just the "East Side".
