A city in West
Los Angeles, home to Sony Studios, the Culver Stairs, and tons of traffic.
Although it used to have a reputation for being a dangerous city, Culver has reinvented itself and is now becoming one of the more desirable places to live on the West Side. Overall, it’s still a middle-class city, but many wealthier residents have began moving in and the rent is rapidly increasing.
Culver City is also one of the most diverse areas in LA. It’s home to snobby, predominantly white neighborhoods like Culver Crest & Carlson Park, as well as predominantly Hispanic and black neighborhoods of Clarkdale and
Blair Hills, respectively.
Culver City High
School is the main high
school in the area, and is best known for having incredibly dirty bathrooms and a great football team (comprised of transfers who
don’t live in Culver).
There’s not as much to do when compared to places like Santa Monica or Beverly Hills, but there’s still a decent amount of attractions in Culver. Culver is home to a great night life scene, wide variety of different shopping centers (all of which are
impossible to find a parking spot in), the
Fox Hills Mall (a
popular mall with an unnecessarily large amount of
shoe stores), the Culver Stairs (a crowded hiking spot with some of the best views of LA), and their very own Arts District.
All in all, Culver is a city that mixes several elements of LA into one. It’s still rather unknown, but could soon be one of the most hip places in SoCal.
Andrew: “You live in Culver City? That must be so
boring!
Rachel: “Culver City isn’t that
boring. There’s a lot to do here now!”
