The term 'I will give you a Brighty', is usually a 'warning enough' in itself, to correct any problem before it esculates - thus resulting in an actual 'Brighty' taking place.
Legend has it that the term Brighty was first conceived at sea aboard a Cruise ship and is said to involve a broken Russian Doll, further details on what occurred are hard to come by. But the saying has started to take off in the South East of England.
