In the UK- barmen are commonly Australian as they lack any social grace be employed where people may be offended by their constant pilfering and nasal whining accents. Australians are considered by British to have been specifically bred for the purpose of being barmen.

It started when I was about 19, working behind the bar at a sports centre for a Young Farmers do. I served the guy with a pint, and he said:
‘can you fit a scotch in there?’
‘Yes sure, no worries’
‘Then why can’t you fill it up with beer?’
What a cunt. He got neither by the way, just a whispered ‘wanker’ into the top of his 7/8 pint of fosters.
