Like a
professor emeritus, a professor ameritus is a professor who has retired except in this
case without having racked up any meritorious accomplishments such as publications,
research grants, or teaching awards; a retired academic goldbrick.
Having accomplished nothing throughout his
long academic career except collecting a substantial undeserved salary and enviable retirement benefits, they should've conferred the title of
professor ameritus (i.e. without
merit) upon him.
