Something that one might mistake for irony, but is actually not. Typically, a predictable worst-case scenario come to fruition. Named after Alanis Morrissette, who's song "Ironic" uses examples of "irony" that are not ironic -- e.g. rain on your wedding day.

Wow 10,000 spoons and all you need is a knife? That's ironic! No it's not -- it's alanic.

Something that isn't ironic but you might think it is if you were a dozy Canadian bint. Named after Alanis Morisette's "Ironic".

"It's like rain on your wedding day" is alanic because it is only ironic if marrying a weatherman and he set the date. Otherwise it just sucks.

A large group of chavs and chavettes walking down the street or hanging around on a street corner, smoking and sometimes drunk. Like an avalanche, you may get swallowed up bt the crowd, and possibly killed by the cloud of smoke and cheap perfume that lingers! It is recomended to stay away if at all possible!

Alanis Ironic

A form of irony that, at a cursory glance, seems to completely miss the definition of irony. Upon further consideration, it occurs to people later that the only thing ironic about it is that there is nothing ironic about it. This, in turn, sets up a conundrum wherein critics are no longer sure whether the original author is either a genius or fucking stupid. Named for Alanis Morisette's song Ironic.

The book was Alanis ironic in that the "ironic" stories the author told were so far off the mark that people had to wonder, given his otherwise sound literary prowess, whether he intentionally used "cosmic irony" to both increase the colloquial understanding of the misuse of ironic and define it in a subtle way, or if he really just doesn't understand irony.
