A movie of the American Civil War. Gods and Generals is a 2003 film based on the novel, Gods and Generals, by Jeffrey Shaara. It is considered a prequel to the 1993 film Gettysburg, which was based on The Killer Angels, a novel by Michael Shaara, Jeff Shaara's father.
The film stars Jeff Daniels as Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Chamberlain and Robert Duvall as Robert E. Lee. While many of the actors from Gettysburg reprised their roles for this film, Stephen Lang is one of a few to play a different character: George Pickett in Gettysburg and Stonewall Jackson in Gods and Generals. Martin Sheen, the original Lee, had conflicts due to the shooting schedule of The West Wing, and was replaced by Duvall.
It was directed by Ronald F. Maxwell, who had also previously directed Gettysburg in 1993. After the box office underperformance of Gettysburg, Maxwell was unable to get the prequel greenlit until media mogul Ted Turner provided the entire $60 million budget.
The film prominently features the Battles of First Bull Run, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville. It shows Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain's life before the war, and also focuses on the personal life of Stonewall Jackson.

Get the Generation C mug.Related Words
The generation of people born between the early 1980's and the mid 1990's. First-handedly saw the transformation of the world and especially the USA with the explosion of digital technology, the internet, a new worldwide economic "Great Recession", the change of America's position in the world, the infamous "War on Terrorism", and many other world changing events still to come. Generation Y will run the world in about 25 years time, and Is arguably the most intelligent, although maybe not the most driven, generation yet as a product of the economic successes of their parents, the Baby Boomer generation, who also handed numerous other serious problems to their children. Generation Y is also a generation of pioneers. They are shaping and writing the new frontier of human interaction and communication, the internet, for example: Mark Zuckerburg, founder of Facebook, born in 1984. They are the guinea pigs of this profound technology, as no other generation has lived such a large fraction of their lives with this technology. Generation Y can also be identified by cynicism and uncalled for self deploring that is not necessarily their fault, but the faults of older generations who are trying to push them to do better and to succeed in a world with increased competition. For an example of this self hate, see Urban Dictionary's words of the day, many of which contain negative remarks towards Generation Y, even though they are written by the same generation they attack.
-"Urban dictionary, Facebook, and much of the internet as we know it are a product of Generation Y."
-"Be proud, those of you in Generation Y, you have influenced the world like no other generation has at such an early age"

Get the Generation Y mug.Awesome 3D stratergy game by EA games. It is set in the 2010's. Two Superpowers, USA and China are playable factions along with GLA (Global Liberation Army). Like with all stratergy games, each faction has its special units and abillities. USA rely on powerful units, strategy and technology to defeat their opponents. China use splash weapons and huge numbers to overwhelm their opponents. the GLA are a Middle Eastern alliance that use stealth, suprise, terrorist tactics and require little resources for construction/military. Each faction also has unique Superweapons. USA has a particle cannon structure firing a beam of energy that the player can train anywhere on the map resulting in instant unit kill and heavy damage to buildings. China uses a nuclear missile that causes heavy damage to buildings and leaves toxic fallout behind. The GLA Scud Launcher rains anthrax filled scud missiles down upon an opponent. Each faction has a campaign to complete and players can simply skirmish. :)

Get the MTV Generation mug.The American generation succeeding Generation X. They are named as such due to their coming-of-age at around the turn of the millenium in some way, shape, or form. A realistic time frame would be early 1980s to mid 1990s. Given that 9/11 was the defining moment of this generation, anyone too young to remember or not born yet would be grouped into the Homeland Generation. Some sources put the end of the Millennial Generation as late as 2003, but as I just said, this is an amazingly meaningless definition.
I was 17 and watching the Twin Towers fall from a TV blaring over the rumble of students in my high school cafeteria.
My little cousin born in 1998 was 3 years old, barely out of diapers and will remember 9/11 like I remember the Challenger exploding.
And we're the same generation?
