Desk Butter

1. A stick of butter left on one’s work desk for an unreasonable length of time, gradually becoming less of a dairy product and more of a psychological landmark.

2. The quiet, absurd process of allowing a small, fixable problem to remain untouched for years because acknowledging it would require acknowledging everything else.

3. A physical manifestation of avoided grief, depression, or trauma; an object that begins as clutter and matures into evidence.

Woody kept meaning to throw it away, but by year three the desk butter had become load-bearing.

Help Desk 

A group of people in a department that have to deal with all the IT problems within an company or organzation. These problems are dealing with dumb asses users 99% of the time.
The helpdesk is the first and last people you deal with from the IT department.

I think we need to call the helpdesk. Then the helpdesk employee shoots himself.

Oklahoma Desk Pass

In 2013, the Tulsa County School District abandoned the use of hall passes, and instead required students to carry their desks to the bathroom. The change was due to too many students leaving to the bathroom at once, and not returning to class.

"Dude, remember Oklahoma Desk Passes?"

Mega Desk 

Dwight's (from The Office) work area where he combined three desks to make one mega desk. Each computer has it's own task, one for sales, gaming, and the third for misellaneous office criteria.

Dwight made the desk during the time Jim and Pam had their child. He coneived the desk by pushing them together in the pattern of a U shape. When Jim came back, mega desk was disassembled and never fully brought back.

Formerly known as help desk the service desk is a central point of contact between users and the IT Service Organization. So basically, they get sh*t on by thier bosses and sh*t on by the people calling in.
