A dirty delete occurs when a social media user makes a post and later decides to delete it, usually because no one is agreeing with the post and/or it is getting dragged relentlessly.

The Chandler AZ Police Department made a public post about their officers donating literally $10 worth of food, within hours it went viral with 35,000 shares. The department limited comments than chose to dirty delete It entirely.
