Side-Scroller

A genre of video game in which the characters exist on a 2D plane (or mostly 2D plane), and they run side to side, often with the ability to jump up or down to different points on the map to avoid obstacles or reach objectives. As the player runs to one side of the screen, the camera will follow them, allowing them to uncover more of the map as they go.

"Oh, is that another one of those side-scroller games?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah... I've just been running right forever. I think it's endless."

A tactic used by engineers and architects to trick coworkers or superiors into thinking they are actually working. The two actions refer to the controls on a mouse and their affiliations in AutoCad.

Urban Assault Stroller

A baby stroller with oversized rubber wheels, carbon-fiber tube construction, and enough storage for 2 weeks worth of groceries from Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and baby supplies. Typically pushed around by self-righteous progressive urban yuppies who three years previously were completely certain they were never going to have kids.

Oh man! I was on line at Whole Foods and some guy rolled his urban assault stroller over my foot!

The "Groan And Scroll"

The action that you perform when not commenting on someone's facebook post that you don't know that well and in a sense "turn the other cheek", even though it is completely outlandish and they need to be called out on it.

Facebook status: 'You should read controversial politician name here's new book. Her stance on insert ridiculous political viewpoint here is something that is good for all of society. Praise be to insert a religious reference here!'

At this point... you think about replying, but decide instead to do the "Groan and Scroll" to keep scrolling on to other statuses thinking it's not worth it and better to leave them in their small minded world instead.

Social Distanced Stroll

SDS. A COVID-19 first date. A meet-up walk during Covid times where you have awkward masked conversation at six feet apart and spend the entire time wishing the walk were over.

I meet Gen for an Social Distanced Stroll today. We walked in circles at six feet apart for two hours. I could not understand a word she said through her mask and my glasses were fogged the entire time. Lovely woman but that was hell. We agreed to meet up post Covid.

scrolling

In internet chat rooms and instant messaging, "scrolling" is the practice of turning what should be one line of text into multiple lines. This is an annoyance to other users, as scrolled messages take up more screen real estate.
