Industrial design is an applied art whereby the aesthetics and usability of mass-produced products may be improved for marketability and production.

The role of an Industrial Designer is to create and execute design solutions towards problems of engineering, usability, user ergonomics, marketing, brand development and sales.

Garage Designer

Garage Designer - An everyday person who has done no study in design but thinks they are a designer. They produce artwork or designs in programs like Word and Paint. They use lots of colours and fonts, and have no idea about typography. These kind of people wish they were a designer but really they have no eye for design at all. Most graphic designers deal with Clients who 'think' they're designers.

My client creates coloured boxes on a page in Word and then puts words in each box about his business and connects them like a crossword. He thinks it's real cool to advertise his business this way!

FYI- the letter z can be added to the word, Linez. Also, Design lines or HDLs/DLs mean the same thing too.

When walking behind Frankie, I couldn't help but notice the awesome design lines on the back of his scalp.

Designated Drover

A designated drover is the responsible person in a group of intoxicated individuals on a night out.

Unlike the 'Designated Driver' they are allowed to be intoxicated, but not to the point that they can not think rationally enough to look after their fellow revelers.

This may include, making sure all of a group get to the next destination, stay off roads, don't eat dodgy hot dogs, kebabs, etc. They may also end up having the responsibility of soothing the individual lying in a pool of their own vomit or tears....

The designated drover can be determined prior to the commencement of an outing or assumed at some point in an unfolding crisis.

"If it wasn't for John the designated drover, I don't know how we would have got home last night."

You were lucky there was a designated drover, otherwise:

you'd have been hit by a car for sure.

you'd have gone home with that crazy_____ for sure.

you would have had vomit in your hair for sure.
