It IS a life-long support system that provides career opportunities and networking opportunities during college and beyond in the real world, an organization that values philanthropy and community service, a place where women learn to be leaders, and place to meet amazing women who will always be there for you when you need them.
It is NOT a place that puts your looks and wardrobe ahead of your values and personality, full of stupid girls who are only out to have a good time, a place that will haze you or make you do things against your will, full of rich, spoiled and snobby girls, a place that is only interested in your money while you're in school and will forget about you after you graduate.

Typically performed by sorority sisters immediately prior to a picture where one or more participants slightly bend their knees and lean on their calves with their arms regardless of whether or not people are behind them in the photo. Possibly used to accentuate the butt. Although scientists have still yet not found the origin or purpose of this tribal ritual, much discussion has been devoted to it's research.
"seriously, Becky is always bent over in all her pictures. You'd think she has scoliosis or something. I guess all those sorority squat pictures add up."

This wild vocal phenomenon is found to effect a very peculiar species: the sorority girl. As we all know, members of sororities take part in parties on a near daily basis. Their combination of screaming, ceaseless talking, binge drinking, smoking, and 3rd-basing leaves a lasting, and negative, impression on their throat. As a result their typically high pitched voice falls to a raspy death tone. This sad sound comes out as though they were an 85 year old male who smoked for the majority of his life, despite the fact that these girls are between the ages of 18-23.
It is found to regularly incite anger in gentlemen within earshot. Males are expected to have lower voices than females, but compared to a "sorority voice": we're all sopranos.
