The new interest in body building had produced a new form of masculinity, that had become very popular in porn and film.

Both the Macho traits and the feminine equal, are typically superficial, sometimes expressed simply do to the physical structure of the person;A heavily muscled man will have a macho walk, and a slim man wont have a macho walk.
