Casinos don't make anything better. Most of the people that lived in Detroit didn't leave because they didn't have a casino nearby, Detroit had deeper problems than that. So far nothing replaced the music industry that was there, and the auto industry started losing it's edge a long time ago. People most likely once thought it would never happen in Detroit, but Detroit is not the only place something like that can happen.

Casinos seem like a way the people in charge try to convince the people that live there that everything is okay and under control when in reality it's been in trouble for a long time, and the people in charge are ignoring it because they don't really give a fuck about anything but being in charge.

Continental Cuisine

Prime rib with crab sauce, filet mignon with lobster tail and crab sauce, shrimp cocktail, dry martini, possibly abalone? Fancy-in-the-1950s, vaguely American-European food thats generally delicious. Stuff that Frank Sinatra presumably ate.

Also could refer to the stuff thats at a typical hotel breakfast, IE Continental Breakfast. Toast, Jam, Butter, Pastries, sausage patties, honeydew. Stuff that Frank Sinatra presumably ate for breakfast.

I had continental cuisine the other day.
What did you have?

Thats not what I would typically call continental cuisine.
It had bearnaise sauce all over it.

Horatio-Caining

To say something deeply underwhelming in a profound way and immediately following the statement with a melodramatic gesture; not unlike how in all the show's opening scenes, CSI: Miami's lead character Horatio Caine (played by David Caruso) usually makes an anticlimactic statement, slowly slides his aviator sunglasses on, and looks off into the distance.

That guy is always Horatio-Caining any chance he gets! He's always waiting for the right moment to drop a single sentence he's been sitting on all class and then to slowly take off his glasses and stare out the window.
