ADAA Continuation Rule 113D

When a final play elimination has occurred, the player who threw the eliminating ball steps and or crosses the denoted yellow center half court line. Crossing the center line results in a double fault. The player that was struck by the eliminating ball is therefore no longer eliminated, and the match proceeds immediately into sudden death elimination. In sudden death elimination, only striking an opposing player eliminates them; catching the ball does nothing. Both players feet must remain in the triangle at all times. Each player may throw the ball at any time after the referee calls the in-game restart.

Cotton McKnight – “I don’t believe it folks, Sudden Death. Well, let me tell ya. A double fault final play elimination hasn’t occurred since the Helsinki episode of 1919, and I think we all remember how that turned out.”
