A comment hackers put in their code to indicate that the next section somehow works even though they don't know why, so please, please don't touch it. Term originates from cartography, meaning dangerous or unexplored sections.

Acronym: Completely Automated Public Turing test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart.

Tests that are easy for a human to pass, but difficult for a computer (thus preventing things like automated signups).
Ever see those registration forms that show a distorted picture and asks you to identify the word in it? That's a CAPTCHA.

abandonware 

n. software that is no longer sold or supported by the original publisher / developer, often found as free downloads on the internet because it cannot be obtained elsewhere. Not legal, but often seen as morally acceptable because the company that made it is no longer selling the title, nor releasing it as freeware, therefore abandonware is "keeping the game alive", so to speak.
Doom II is not abandonware because id still sells it, while The Incredible Machine is not sold, therefore is abandonware.
