CSI stands for "Crime Scene Investigation," which as the name implies are a group of individuals, usually forensic scientists, within a police force who examine and process a crime scene and the evidence found there. It is also a show on CBS with reruns on SpikeTV. There are three forms of the show: CSI, CSI: Miami, and CSI: New York. Many claim that CSI is CBS's stylized response to the show Law & Order on NBC. However, the television show is just a glamorized, more "viewer friendly" view of the real CSI job.
(Taken from www.vgcats.com) "In the normal world, CSI, or Crime Scene Investigators, collect and analyze information on a crime. Their findings are then passed on to the detectives and other authorities as the criminal case makes its way down the system. However, in TV, show the CSI investigators take on nearly all aspects of the case. Even arresting and interviewig suspects. Making them some sort of Judge Dredd enforcement officer. A complete package of Judge, Jury, and Executer."
Although I like CSI and Law & Order, I personally prefer Law & Order because it's more realistic. Also, since I'm pre-law, I was upset with the court scenes on CSI.

Sophomore Jinx

Alright kiddies, there are two definitions for this.

1) In baseball, this refers to the superstition that a rookie's second year will be a bad one, i.e. he gets injured, plays a horrible season, or the team falls apart on account of his playing style.

2) In college, it refers to the time when classes are getting much harder, sometimes even the harder than the following years in an undergraduate program. It can also refer to the student changing his/her major and having a hard time with it at first.
1) There are too many to list, check the stats at www.mlb.com

2) Little Billy suffered the Sophomore Jinx when he broke down working on a Rigid Body Mechanics assignment. He's now an Anthropology major.

yellow fever

1) A disease carried by mosquitoes in tropical regions, especially in South America, Africa, and the Caribbean. Symptoms include sudden fever, yellowing of the skin, and hemorrhaging. A very dangerous disease that is quite often fatal. It was the number one cause of death for Americans during the construction of the Panama Canal. Nowadays a yellow fever vaccine is required if you're traveling to said tropical regions, especially during the summer.

2) When a person of non-Asian ethnicity has strong feelings and/or urges of an Asian person of the opposite gender. Usually these urges are sexual, but not always. Wasn't too widely known until the release of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.
1) Good God that vaccine hurt! But I guess it's better than dying....

2) Little Billy went to a club in Chinatown and now has a sudden case of yellow fever.

gay rights

The civil rights that individuals and married couples have that those in the homosexual community don't have. These include the legalization of gay marriage, the same rights to said act that heterosexuals receive, (such as tax exemptions and benefits) and the right to be in public without being frowned upon.

Although homosexuals have been fighting for these rights since the late 1800s, the issue never received nearly as much publicity until around the 2004 election when Congress gave the states the right to choose their view on this issue.

Democrats and liberals feel that these individuals deserve the same rights that all of us have because we are all human, the Constitution says "All men are created equal," and that we practically did the same thing with the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 60s. Republicans, conservatives, and many Christian groups feel that homosexuals should not be given the same rights for various reasons including their own thoughts that homosexuality is a disease or mental illness, that it has no social benefit, (i.e. impossible to bear children) and that the Bible doesn't allow it (see Leviticus 18:22). There have been many arguments about these issues which have also brought into question where to draw the line between the Seperation of Church and State.
I tried to make this definition as unbiased as possible without giving away much about my political party preference and/or my stand on this issue.
