when cultivating pot, there is a certain stage near the end of the budding stage wherein you expose the plant to immense heat. In order to protect the leaves from heat, the cannabis emits little white "crystal looking" tricomes that contain enormous portions of THC. This is the definitive step to producing great cannabis. Tricomes are sometimes mistaken for sprinkled crack by uninformed potheads.

Trichomes 

Trichomes are small appendages that look like hairs, they are produced by marijuana and other plants. Some trichomes on marijuana plants develop a resin gland at the top. These trichomes are a rich source of THC, and monitoring them will allow you to best judge when the plants are ready for harvesting.

On marijuana plants, trichomes with resin glands form in the highest concentration on buds. They start out clear, turn a milky color, then turn amber (light brown). To best judge when to harvest, keep an eye on the trichomes on the buds on each plant.

Tricromes 

Tricromes are the tiny, little, THC crystals on good quality marijuana. They are almost invisible to the naked eye, unless examined very close with good lighting. a magnifying glass helps you to see them better.

Tricome eye 

An irritation in the eye caused by marijuana use.

After twisting a fatty I accidentally rubbed my eye and now I have tricome eye.
