technogentsia

A social class of the creative technical elite and technophiles who thrive on driving broad adoption of internet, computer, and mobile technologies forward for the betterment of society and the free flow of information in a variety of cultural contexts. The technogentsia are often technical anarchists, eager to tear down old technical paradigms and replace them with new concepts in the name of progress.
Silicon Valley culture is largely driven by the technogentsia, whose relentless drive to push technology forward in social and political contexts has given rise to social media, crowd-sourcing, and widespread interactivity between devices and users.
