Rushing

Term used in adherence to fraternities when it comes to recruiting. In rushing; hordes of people are invited to a massive blowout party thrown by a certain fraternity. During this time, brothers can weed out who could make a good member of their organization. After this; they go to the people who stood out and recruit them for their fraternity. And than the hazing begins...

Student - This rushing is crazy! Who's that guy?

A multiplayer strategy that is popular in real time strategies (aka Starcraft, Warcraft, Age of Empires, Empire Earth, etc). It is when a player makes a half-assed army ASAP to catch their oppenent off guard and ensuring a victory. Instead one should take the time to upgrade your army and building a defense first. Personally, I think it is a very nooby way to play (many will object) because almost no skill is envolved. Also, what is the point in buying a multiplayer RTS when you will finish the game in 5 minutes.

Noob- "Dude, I just finished playing Starcraft online."
Experienced Player (EP)- "How did it go?"
Noob- "Well, all I did was make 12 Zerglins and pwned the other guy as soon as I could."
EP- "So in other words, you were rushing?"
Noob- "Well...yeah."
EP- "Wanna take me on?"
Noob- "Sure!"
(EP continues to school the noob by actually taking TIME to play)

A game in British schools similar to British Bulldog where kids chase one or a group of kids, in a mob that can be hundreds strong, mostly with the intention to cause violence and trample someone. Banned in most schools. Common in large comprehensives.

a style of play in first/third person shooter video games where an individual is constantly on the move trying to kill opponents and take objectives. instead of cautiously advancing through the map, when rushing the individual aggressively pushes through it, using absolute speed and flanking skills to win battles.

Tom: "I heard your kill/death ratio is 0.5 on Battlefield V?"

Sipho: "Yeah. I'm always just mindlessly rushing. I need to be a bit more cautious and use cover a lot more."

Rushing the Growler

A practice describing a person going to a saloon with a bucket in order to have it filled up with beer; normally practiced during the 20s-40s. Also known as getting a "scuttle of suds".

Person A: My, he's been in that saloon an awfully long time.
Person B: Ah; that's because he's been rushing the growler.
