A
portmanteau of "proxy" and "offended". This adjective describes a
phenomenon wherein one person takes offence to the problems of another. These people are self-appointed proxies who are offended on behalf of the apparent victims.
"Proxyfenders" often act as though they themselves have been attacked
personally, even though that is very much not the case.
Such people often aggressively defend the supposed victim when, ironically, in many cases the supposed victim is not even harmed by the would-be offence.
