News to Me

A phrase said when someone tells you something new you never heard before, usually when it is about death or other shocking events.

Person 1: Bro the President has Coronavirus!
Person 2: News to me!

That's news to me

You're speaking to someone and they casually talk about something that happened or is going to happen that you had no previous knowledge of beforehand as if you did. They basically assume that you are aware of this.

For instance, if a girl says says to a guy, "we're going cinema this weekend", and he was previously unaware of this then he could say "that's news to me..".

What you say to somebody when they say something completely dumb. Must be said in a really sarcastic, annoying tone.

Phil-"Toni Braxton was born a man! She admitted it on Oprah."
Dave-"WOW! That's news to me!"

Janie-"Bush totally planned 9/11 to make himself look good!"
Pete-"That's news to me!"
