It eventually became clear to all of her friends and followers that she was living the megaphone life to obscure the fact that her life was in truth, completely empty.

A unique term to describe humorous or obscene uses of metaphors and similes. Not like the literature heavy, dull and archaic everyday metaphors and similes in novels, newspapers and articles - a Megaphore is specially crafted to amuse, amaze or offend and can reference anything from current events to celebrities.
That Megaphore was so funny it almost made me forget to take my annual shit on Jade Goody's coffin.

That Megaphore was so obscene it put me off my planned munging trip.

That Megaphore was so brilliant I felt like I'd been given a rusty trombone by an angel.

A funny, humorous or downright obscene use of a metaphor or simile, popularised on site megaphores.com. Megaphores usually reference current traumatic events, celebrity mishaps or general weird and random thoughts.
Example Megaphores:

Libya is in more of a mess than that prostitute I put through the woodchipper

It's so cold outside. If my nipples were any harder I would start to lactate ice cream.

It's so cold outside. If my nipples were any harder Harvey Price would think I was an Etch-a-Sketch

people's megaphone

An activity performed by a crowd in which the crowd repeats all the words of a single speaker giving a speech. Invented to circumvent rules against electronic means of amplification of anyone's voice in certain public areas during protests. Although suitably disconcerting and emotional, pretty much useless for any actual communication.
Although Michael Moore made effective use of the people's megaphone, the fact remains that he is a douchebag.
