The Earth itself may have acted like a giant mass spectrometer and with details of the trajectories and the locations of impact events it may allow us to pinpoint from which direction it arrived (likely from the direction of Antarctica), from where in the universe and exact time and dates of impact.

How long the sun disappeared for is unknown – weeks? Months? Years? Decades?
