Gangte people are one of the Zo people and are part of Kuki or under Mizo tribe and
recognised tribe of Manipur, India. They are also indigenous inhabitants of Mizoram, Assam and Myanmar. It is also a recognised tribe under Indian
Constitution.2 With a population of
approximately 40,000 worldwide (as of 2018),3 they primarily live in Manipur's southern district (Churachandpur) and neighbouring States of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Assam states of India.
