Something that went well, or maybe just better than expected, but is now over. It may also be used insultingly or sarcastically to describe an attempt that was, in fact, not a good run.
ex 1: Kanye had a good run as a sane person.

ex 2: After Jeb Bush announced he is ending his candidacy for president, someone could yell sarcastically "Good run, Jeb!" to hurt his feelings.

This is a common olden saying that was said a lot back in the olden days. I think I heard someone say this one time awhile ago. You'd rather have a horse that could walk to the water, than two horse that'll cost me more in the long run.

good runner

Something that is good for awhile, but not meant to last in the long term. Temporary, and fulfilling a purpose of a relatively superficial nature.
Lucy and I were fwb for a couple of months, she was a good runner.

That car wasn't what I wanted, but it got me through the summer. It was a good runner.
