Front Porch Philosophy is the practice of inviting friends over to one's house for the explicit activity of drinking a few beers and discussing philosophical and spiritual topics. Coined by the Colorado journalist Stephanie DeCamp, the phrase can also be used to define a series of conversations held by a recurring host.
This week I decided to invite a former street-preacher, an atheist nanny and an acupuncturist over to my balcony for some Front-Porch Philosophy. I think the goal will be to discuss anything but religion.
Another phrase to describe the bigotry of low expectations; people who assume that another race needs to rely on them for support.

The life lesson that is learned from this is that the most important people in your life you can imagine sitting happily on a front porch with when you're old and gray. If can also be applied to help you make everyday decisions.

When you have to pee in a movie but don’t want to miss anything, and must do the following mental equation: will the amount I have to pee cause enough discomfort to diminish my attention capacity for the remainder of the movie to an extent which is greater than the amount of the movie I would miss by making a mad dash to the restroom.
I saw Satantango last night, wonderful film but by the 5th hour I had to start doing pee calculus.
