African American Vernacular English (AAVE), also called African American English, Black English, Black Vernacular, or Black English Vernacular (BEV), is a type variety (dialect, ethnolect and sociolect) of the American English language. It is known colloquially as Ebonics (a portmanteau of "ebony" and "phonics"). With pronunciation that in some respects is common to Southern American English, the variety is spoken by many blacks in the United States. AAVE shares many characteristics with various Creole English dialects spoken by blacks in much of the world. AAVE also has pronunciation, grammatical structures, and vocabulary in common with various West African languages. Ebonics is not merely just the use of urban or "slang" words, but rather it is the manipulation and transformation of the English language (ie, In the sentence "I want to have sex with a chickenhead", a slang word is used, but the speaker is not using ebonics.)
"He workin'."- He is working (right now).

"He been hit dat from last week."- He has already had sex with that(her), since last week.

"I'm finna go get some chicken." I am (or possibly I am considering) going to get chicken.

"I aint doin' nuthin' fo'dat ho."- I am not going to do anything for that whorish woman.

"Don't be tellin' me dat I can't talk good cuz I speak ebonics."- Do not tell me that I am unable to speak well just because I speak ebonics.

A "variation" of English entirely made up of slang and southern word shortenings. It is generally spoken in the "hood" (neighborhood) and has almost no defined syntactical structure. Also of note is the almost complete lack of conjugation of verbs ("I be", "she be", "thems be", etc) and the mixing of pronouns. When spoken in any educated circles, its usage usually screams "I am illiterate."
Jive/Ebonics: "Sheeeeiit, foo, I'z be doin' dat shit an' shorty be axin me fo' sum' scrilla."
English: Shit, friend, I am doing that stuff, and my girlfriend is asking me for some money.

An effort to create a "new" language based off of the English language. Many changes have been made so that it can be different. Words that end in "oor" change to "oh". Words with "ing" change to "in'". Words that are next to each other in the sentence are sometimes combined. Also known as "ghetto" talk.
Ebonics: “Man foo, i think dis busta needs to get his caps out dis club 'afore i drop em in the street.”

English: “I think that this man should evacuate his friends from this drinking establishment before I murder him and lay his dead corpse in a public driving location.”

Ebonics: “Yo son, you best not talk to me like dat dog, im liable to be splittin some wigs up in dis mug if you keep disrespectin like that...so ignant..”

English: “Hello acquaintance. I would appreciate it if you didn't speak to me in that way. If you continue, I might start firing fast moving projectiles into people's skulls in this general vicinity. You are very ignorant.”

Ebonics: “Man, he dropped a dime on dat whip. i thinks he gots that on tha corna lot of big g's auto. i gots to pimp that chrome.”

English: “That fellow spent a lot of cash on his automobile. I believe that he processed the transaction in the main gangsters automobile store. I sure would love to drive that fine automobile.”

Ebonics: “dem ho's keep tryin to buck my rides but they kno that i ain't givin em they nickels if they still kick it off the heezy and bounce. for real tho.”

English: “My female prostitutes continue to hijack my cars, but they know that if they keep doing this, they will not receive their 1/25 gram of their cocaine if they keep leaving their houses. This is true.”

(n.) derivative word form resulting from the combination of "ebony" (referring to pigmentation) and "phonics". An evolving form of American English popularized in multimedia. Once only heard/spoken primarily in impoverished urban neighborhoods, it has infiltrated American culture to the point where some of the nation's largest public school districts even considered teaching it as part of the general curriculum.
The "For Dummies" publishing company would make a mint if they printed an "Ebonics For Dummies" title.
