A week long "academy" for history buffs (AKA NERDS) in Washington, DC where high school geeks hook up while freaking on the dance floor only to end up shaking hands and walking away.

Close-up magic

An illusion performed by a single magician right in front of the audiences nose. Usually performed for one to twenty people in casual situation. This kind of magic, unlike stage magic, requires much more skill by the magician instead of by an assistant like in stage magic.

Downsides of close-up magic is that people tend to try to ruin your trick on the spot because they don't give a shit on how amazing it is a lot of the time and most likely want to spoil it because they like to remind themselves that they are gay fags.

Girls tend to either overexcite themselves over this kind of magic or show absolutely no interest at all.
Girl 1: OMG did you see that close-up magic trick that guy did with the cards. My card just changed?!

Girl 2: Oh. It did do that.

Close-up face-off

An instance in movies or TV shows when two people face off for an argument and the shot zooms in on one's face and then the other's. It continually switches back and forth. A shorter series of shots can be used for drama. While a strangely long series of shots is usually used for comedy. Sometimes the shots slowly become closer to the target's eyes as they switch between the two subjects.
Person 1: Where are you going?
Person 2: Home.
Person 1: You're not going anywhere!

Spongebob Close-up

A technique used in various cartoons in which the camera zooms into a character's face revealing disgusting or grotesque features (ex. bloodshot eyes, nosehairs, pimples, etc.) that usually are not noticed when the camera is at a certain distance from the character. Commonly used in the show "Spongebob Squarepants".
Spongebob: Hey Squidward, has my Acne Cream worked yet?

Viewer 1: Get ready for a Spongebob Close-up, dude!

(T.V. zooms into a still frame revealing Spongbob's ghastly outbreak)

Viewer 2: Ughghgh!

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
