A "But what about...?" deflection can often be an outright lie, or something made up that is preposterous. The function is to get away from the point that cant be defended.

This is the right wingers only tool in his debate box besides attacking the source. Used often by right wingers when realizing they lack the ability to debate their defenseless points.

This tool is especially useful when it is blatantly obvious to the most casual observer that your candidate or representative is guilty as hell.
