An idiomatic expression used to indicate complete indifference, total lack of interest, or irrelevance regarding a situation, opinion, or consequence. Borrowed from Russian барабан (“drum”), via the expression «мне по барабану» (“it’s all the same to me / I don’t care”), and adapted in colloquial Moldovan speech. Figurative meaning: “don’t care,” “doesn’t matter at all,” “irrelevant to me.”.

British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
