proper n. An excellent television series adapted from the works of canadian novelist Lucy Maud Montgomery (of Anne of Green Gables fame). Expertly produced by Kevin Sullivan, Avonlea follows the lives of turn-of-the-century famillies living on beautiful Prince Edward Island, or PEI.
The series stands out for its beautiful scenery and sets, authentic costumes, well-devised plotlines, excellent acting and evocative themes. The overall quality of the production brings to mind Merchant/Ivory costume dramas.
Most Americans familliar with the series watched it on The Disney Channel, which used to carry it weekly. It should also be noted that this is the show on which actress Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Dead remake, Go!) played her first important role, as the impetuous Sarah Stanley.

Avonlea is an amazing person she is a great leader and so beautiful in every way. she has blonde hair and green eyes. if Avonlea is your friend you will definitely want to keep her, her smile will light a room up always. she has a perfect body and loves to spend time with her older sister. she has a carefree spirit, If you like Avonlea more than a friend you will have to move fast, she prefers that guys make the first move. Avonlea will bright up a room right when she walks in, she is a kind caring person that cares so much about her friends she loves to give hugs and snuggle she can make you smile and laugh in an instant she has a GORGEOUS voice and loves spending time with her older sister and usually just wears some ripped jeans and a t-shirt she can be friends with everyone and has a ton of guy friends very outgoing but likes to have her alone time and has a gift for dancing very intelligent even though she doesn’t seem like it you don’t want to get on her bad side because she knows how to fight she doesn’t care what she looks like but cares so much about hurting someone’s feelings she is so loyal and will never abandon you she is a great leader and will always be there to help you and comfort you she looks young but is wise beyond her years. Has an amazing imagination and loves to write stories. Avonlea is very romantic if you like her be quick she likes guys that are caring and one’s show affection and don’t take long to show it she doesn’t care about looks but about the personality she’ll be the bestest girlfriend you’ll ever have.

Striver
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.
The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.
The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. Utility beer is the beer you keep around for the day-to-day moments when beer is a necessity to assist in pedestrian activities (golf, plumbing, yardwork, babysitting, staff meetings, Zoom calls). For the beer snob it is the beer you save for neighbors when they drop in at 3 p.m. on a Tuesday. It is differentiated from the actual high-end beer you save for special events, holidays, and special tastings.
