Get the augusto mug.Dictator who ruled Chile with an iron fist from 1973 to 1990. Pinochet headed the military junta that controlled the country after a coup that deposed the democratically elected president Salvador Allende. During his reign, Pinochet ordered the violent suppression of all political opposition to his government. A commission determined that his military and government were responsible for human rights violations, including more than 2,000 deaths and untold numbers of disappearances.
All opposition parties were banned, the press was censored and dissidents up and down the country were abducted and executed without trial. The notorious Caravan of Death, an Army death squad flew the length of the country by helicopter in October 1973, extinguishing 97 influential opposition figures. Even dissidents that had fled the country were not out of Pinochet’s reach. Operation Condor, tracked the numerous Chileans that had fled into exile. No-one was safe from Pinochet’s paranoid anti-communist drive. General Prats, Augusto Pinochet’s predecessor in the role of Commander in Chief, was killed in Buenos Aires in 1974.

He has an easy smile and a good laugh, that contagious one, and appears calm even when everything seems lost, because he can show you the light you can't see (little does he know that, most of the time, he is that light) . If Augusto was rain, it would be one of those with thunder that doesn't scare, but rumbles from the bottom, complementing a light rain from those days when you just want to stay at home, under the blanket, looking out the window or watching a movie. Those cozy days.
Augusto's kind, the kindest person you'll ever meet, without distinction from anyone else. He looks with his heart at everything and everyone, in a way so sweet it seems unbelievable.
And he's beautiful, of course. That kind of beauty that overflows from the inside out, added to a unique charisma and authentic personality. It's that fun, friendly company that knows how to listen. But he also loves to be listened to, and in the midst of many jokes (perhaps in dubious humour) that can get out of there, when he gets carried away, it's a sight to watch him think. It's like you can see the gears working, you can feel how smart he is, curious and deep, paradoxically complex and simple at the same time. And suddenly It makes you feel happy to be there, living at the same time as this work of art.
