Adoption

An "adoption" in chess is when one player beats another 10 in a row in the same time control, with no draws.
An adoption occurred on Chess Grandmaster Eric Hansen's twitch stream when he was challenged by Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura and proceeded to lose ten games in a row to Hikaru.

late term abortion

“Late-term” actually short for “late termination” meaning stopping a pregnancy after 20 weeks and usually before 24 week. Normally, they are only done because the mother is sick or the baby is so deformed it won’t live. With a sick mom, after 24 weeks they would normal induce labor and once born the baby would be in the care of neonatal intensive care unit to help it survive.

Only nine states and the District of Columbia allow abortions after 24 weeks without restrictions. And those are very very rare (0.3%) because these abortions costs $15,000 or more in cash.

The general public, including our political leaders, confuse the abbreviation “term.” with “term” meaning a fixed or limited period for which something last (37 -42 weeks in regards to pregnancy). Two very very different meanings.

Actually, “late term abortion” is redundant, because termination is the medical word for elective abortion. It should either be late term. Or late abortion.

The only “abortion” of an unwanted pregnancy at 37-42 weeks of pregnancy is actually inducing labor, normal birth of a live baby, and adoption to new parents.
She opted for a late term abortion because the ultrasound showed anencephaly (missing most of the brain and part of the skull).

abortion stick

Kitchen slang. The abortion stick is the unbent coat hanger, kept in virtually every commercial kitchen in North America, for unclogging the spout at the bottom of the deep fryer and various other odd jobs. It is an important tool, despite being a piece of junk, and it's very annoying when the abortion stick goes missing.
John (peering into the filthy space under the fryer): Where the fuck is the abortion stick?
Jim: Your mom borrowed it.

contraption adaption

1) The period of time needed to familiarize oneself with a new electronic device.
2) Often, a period of extreme anxiety and frustration stemming from one's need to learn a lot of technical information in a short to non-existent period of time.
1) "I'm sorry, Joe. I won't be in to work today. I'm exhausted from staying up all night learning how to use my new i-phone and am suffering this morning from a bad case of contraption adaption."

2) "I'm now limiting my persuit of new e-toys to only those gadgets with a low level of contraption adaption."

3) The salesguy said: "If you buy this new Mac laptop today, I guarantee you'll start using it today." "Yeah, sure", I said. "I'll BET there's no contraption adaption for THIS machine!"
