To solve an equation the way Donald Trump would do it: equate each factor on the left side of the equation to the number on the right to find the unknown—a “fake method” to find the correct answer—forcing the original equation to zero, before factorizing it is made redundant.
To solve the equation (x + 4)(3 – x)= 6, trumporize it as follows: (x + 4) = 6 or (3 – x) = 6, which simplifies to x = 2 or x = –3. Hence the two solutions satisfying the equation are 2 and –3.

For practice, trumporize the following equations: (a) (3 – x)(x + 5) = 7, (b) (t + 9)(11 – t) = 19.
