To be used as a virtual distraction while on dating sites by some one who never intends to meet. Much like the virtual pet from the 90s, your their play thing.

Girl 1: Omg this hot guy liked me on my dating app and we have been chatting for weeks!
Girl 2: Nice, get it girl! When are you hooking up?
Girl 1: He keeps saying soon...
Two weeks later...
Girl 2: Did you ever meet that hot guy?!
Girl 1: No, he just keeps talking to me but doesn't want to meet!
Girl 2: Wow he Tamagotchied you!
Girl 1: Ahh hell... but I like him!
Girl 2: Run...

Tamagotchied (verb, slang):
To find yourself in a relationship that exists almost entirely in the virtual world—through video calls, texts, and online interactions—where one partner treats the other like a digital companion. The connection may feel constant and intimate online, but any attempt to bring the relationship into the physical, real-world space is rejected. The partner essentially keeps you as their “virtual boyfriend/girlfriend,” similar to how one cares for a Tamagotchi: always present on-screen, but never truly real.

“Yeah, we talked every day and it felt like we were dating, but when I tried to meet up, she shut it down. I realized I’d just been Tamagotchied.”

A little electronic keychain with an animal on it. I had a kitten when I was 4 (which was when these lil fuckers were in style). Every night it would die cuz it would shit at like 3 in the morning and i wouldn't be up to change it. eventually i got so pissed at it I threw it under the train tracks at the subway station.

Tamagotchi

A virtual pet simulator of an alien lifeform that crash landed on earth in eggs. They genetically mutate into different creatures depending on how well, you fed it, happy you kept it and how clean you kept it. Along with disciplining and praising when it does things wrong then right. After awhile they get to old and die, you then start off with a new pet.

Often fun for a few days, but then gets rather old.

I as much care as I could of my Tamagotchi and it turned into a Dog.

I took care of it by only the bare necessities and it turned into an Octopus.

I never really paid attention to mine and it turned into some kind of bird.
