An absolute genius of a writer who created probably the most complex and complete fantasy world ever, 'Middle-earth', based on European mythology. Well known for Lord of the Rings, which has been made into a movie. He also created many languages.
Tolkien's Middle-earth is the ultimate fantasy. The world is amazing. His languages are beautiful. Worship it.

I don't think warned people against marraige, he himself was a married Catholic.

People who say he was racist are just wrong. He wanted to create a mythology for England, 'cos they didn't really have one of their own ( check the facts, King Aurthur is a Welsh legend before the English nick him, Tolkien would have been well aware of this). As such, It would have been fairly hard to create a black/Asian charachter to fit an ancient/ near medievel english myth.

Anyway, back to definition, he was a writer who created the second highest selling book ever ( the first being the Bible), and a very good book it is too, the only people who say it's boring, are the ones who never read past the bit with Tom Bombadil.

Tolkien; pronounced - tol(toh) ki(key) en(in) - not pronounced "tolkeen".

Tolkien's are often described as;

"A (tolkien) is marginally afraid of feet" - Kody
"wears good clothes, stereotypically handsome" - Harry
"an absolute mongo!" - Ashleigh
"Caught a vibeeee baby are you coming for a ride" - Martyna
"one of my best friends" - Aimee
"tolkien moment" - Scott S
"musical genius!!" - Amy
"friend" - Scott F
"got big hair" - Madday
"caring, generous, curly haired" - Felicity
"cool, easygoing, really kind, good heart, attractive, sweet, good with kids, funny :)" - Lola

Tolkiens - as you can see - are not bad people. Tolkiens are loved, and love others very much.
Tolkiens are quick tempered, confrontational but always honest and never means what he says negatively.
Take care as 'tolkiens' are rather emotional, strong willed but can be easily effected by people.

Tolkien's favourite quote - "don't cry, its a waste of good suffering."

Tolkien, J.R.R.

British professor, writer and linguist who devoted half of his life to the creation and intricate development of the most beloved fantasy world of all time: Middle-Earth. Considered a genius by fans and intellectuals the world over, he is responsible for the invention of over 10 languages, multiple races, and an entire history for his timeless tales to take place in. The most famous of his stories are, of course, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. He died in 1973.
J.R.R Tolkien was the greatest writer who ever lived.

tolkien squared

something so cool that its like J.r.r. tolkien squared as in TO THE SECOND POWER. it all started when one of my friends was describing a thing in D&D, and i misinterpreted it. Soon ideas about a book to come sprung to my mind, thinking people would describe it tolkien squared, we prayed for such a thing and continued our pre-campaign chat
"man that book is no kidding tolkien squared!"
"what??"

A lighthearted reaction upon receiving disappointing news of some sort. Usually something that isn't a particularly a big deal, esp. when it primarily affects someone else - sort of a mild schadenfreude. Sometimes doubled or tripled, and possibly said in a sing-songy voice for added comedic effect to imitate a muted trumpet, which is how the meme originated.
