The current state of modern entertainment where dozens of competing streaming services own every show/movie we wanna watch & hide them behind corporate paywalls. Big players include Disney+,
Netflix, Crunchyroll, & Amazon Prime.
But then every company wanted to be the next Disney+ & launched their own streaming app, creating the extremely fractured expensive landscape we see today.
Under streaming service warlordism, every
IP owner gets to gatekeep their shows & force you to pay a monthly fee to watch. It creates an absolute nightmare for consumers who just wanna watch their favorite shows & movies.
These filthy rich, out-of-touch companies actually expect working-class customers to juggle 30 different monthly memberships, deal with volatile licensing contracts that vanish a show halfway through your binge-watch, & suffer through studios deleting their own original
projects for
tax write-offs. Shows/movies randomly come & go on each platform.
It sucks way worse than an old-school
monopoly; under a
monopoly, you at least pay one
high price to get everything, but under this fractured warlordism, you pay dozens of separate corporate tribute fees & still get locked out of half of cultural
history.
Tubi is like the only safe haven for people who hate Streaming Warlordism, it'
s like the people's library.
"I just wanted to do a simple movie
night, but streaming service warlordism means I have to subscribe to Max and AMC+ as add-ons through my Amazon Prime account just to watch one series."
"Streaming service warlordism completely justifies
anime piracy at this point. I'm not paying separate monthly fees to Crunchyroll,
Netflix, Hulu, & HIDIVE just to watch
4 different shows in a single season—especially when half of them get randomly deleted anyway."
"Streaming service warlordism is everything wrong with Capitalism/Corporatism"
