Act of creating a fictitious romantic relationship with someone you desire who is already attached, patently disinterested, or otherwise unattainable.

Kelly is already with Anthony so whatever story Joey tells you is all just romance-turbation.

Romanceturbation 

Doing romantic things without a significant other in order to get those warm, fuzzy feelings one gets when being on a romantic outing or date. Romanceturbation is practiced by those too pathetic to get an actual date, and may be characterized by such behaviors as getting a table for one at a restaurant, renting romantic comedies, etc.

Anna: "Where's Sally?"

Sarah: "She told me she's staying in tonight. I saw her pick up "Eat, Pray, Love" from the Redbox and she had her table set for just herself, with her nice china out."

Anna: "Sounds like she's going to be doing some romanceturbation tonight."
