Contrary to the other listing in here, it was sold to Taco Bell in 1984. The "taco dog" was actually called a "Taco on a bun". The last remaining location was in Pasadena and the name was changed to Pop'n'Taco. I know because I worked at the Alhambra,CA store for 5 yrs. and our district supervisor Mike VanSickle bought the store in Pasadena.

Get the Pup'n'Taco mug.Small drive through Hot-dog and Taco stand chain in and around Los Angeles and Orange County, CA. Locations sold to Wienershcnitzel and Tommy Burger in the mid-1980's. Pup'N'Taco was dirt cheap, and a great place for zitty faced punk rockers to have thier first job. Served the infamous Taco Dog, which was a hot dog bun filled with taco meat and topped with cheese. Ref. see also "Naugles". Only people of a certain age remember the Pup'N'Taco. If YOU remember the PNT - you are way more OC than Mischa Barton could ever hope to be.

A name for my small stuffy, a monkey, named Pupntaco, which is short for Lord Cornelius Pupntaco the 3rd. A fun word to say and nothing to do with the extinct Hamburger chain in SoCal during the 70s.
