A lost dog at the beach that you hold is a public dog.

Publicdomainware

Software whose source code has been dedicated to the public domain, allowing anyone to legally view, use, modify, copy, compile, and redistribute it without copyright restrictions. Because the author has waived (to the extent legally possible) their exclusive copyright, the software can be incorporated into both open-source and proprietary projects without requiring attribution or the release of derivative source code, depending on the jurisdiction.

Unlike most open-source software, which is governed by licenses that set conditions for use and distribution, public-domainware is intended to be as unrestricted as possible. In places where a true public domain dedication is not recognized, developers often use legal tools such as the CC0 1.0 Universal Dedication to achieve a similar effect.

Veyon is an example of a publicdomainware program used for monitoring and controlling computers across multiple platforms.
