chowder effect

(often called "unmoving plaid") An animation technique popularized by the cartoon Chowder where a character’s clothing texture stays completely still while the character moves underneath it. Instead of the fabric moving with the body, the character appears to “slide” through a fixed pattern—like plaid or stripes—creating a surreal, window-like or wormhole effect.

Meaning “Away From Switch.” It’s used to indicate that someone is temporarily stepping away from their Nintendo Switch console. It’s the Switch equivalent of saying “AFK” (Away From Keyboard), but specifically tailored to the Nintendo ecosystem.
