The word leather can be used to describe the state of a male's penis between flaccid and boner. Adam Carolla invented the word in high school, while working towards a degree in ceramics. The term "leather" was originally used to describe the point to which a piece of clay becomes too hard to mold or shape. Carolla first heard the word in a Ceramics 101 course in high school. Since then he has used the word to describe the state of his and Dr. Drew's penis. Both of which he has seen on many occasions.
