der/da - last part of 'rider' or 'rida'(since final 'R's are difficult to pronounce in Japanese)

Based off of the manga made by Shoutaro Ishinomori in the mid to late 1960's, Kikaida/Kikaider is a series that uses the 'pinnochio' concept and asks the question "What defines 'human'?"

It started out as a four volume manga and then was made into a live action show around 1972-74. It also led to the creation of the Kikaider 01 manga which is supposed to focus on the story of Jiro's older 'brother'-Ichiro, or Kikaider 01. Kikaider plays a role in this shorter 3 manga volume series as well.

"The difference between your robots and Kikaider is that he has a conscience circuit..."-paraphrased from Saburo in the episode "Destroyer" from the Kikaider animation series.

One of the saddest (as in emotionally sad, not shitty) anime shows I've ever seen.

I almost shed a tear watching Kikaider.

(kikai means machine) the greatest SHOW in the entire universe! its about this android who wants to become human. he falls in love with a human named mitsuko(i think that's how it's spelled) gill(the bad guy) is trying to destroy jiro/kikaider, cuz he has a concsience circuit that allows him to think and have feelings. he plays a guitar and rides in this awesome kick-ass motorcycle thingy. overall, its a really great anime show, and it actually has a plot, instead of fighting and blowing things up. although the fight scenes are pretty nifty.

i've never missed a single episode of kikaider. if not, i'll have a nervouse breakdown. HE'S SO HOT:) but he's not real*tear*

Kikaider is a live action show which started in Japan about a teenage boy who is an android and experiences strange feelings and is quite unsure why. It is because of Jiro's concious circuit. It is also an anime and manga. The manga has not yet been translated for the American fans yet.
