To gewehr is to be unexpectedly presented with an enemy soldier/player, and instinctively pull the trigger, resulting in the enemy/player's death.

German bolt-action rifle created in 1898 as a successor to the Gewehr 88.
Commonly associated with German infantry during WW1.
Later became the popular Karabiner 98k (Kar98k) rifle.
