A video game console released on September 9th, 1999, or "9/9/99." The system ushered in the 128-bit age, with impressive graphics and online capabilities out of the box via a 56k modem.

The system was a huge hit among hardcore gamers and Sega Fanatics. Yet, in 2001, Sega pulled the plug on the system, and consoles were no longer manufactured. Many reasons exist for why the system failed -- no support of certain "critical" publishers, prior failure of the Sega Saturn, the ease with which games could be pirated, and the hype of the looming PS2. During its two year lifespan, over 250 games were released in the U.S. market, and many were hugely successful.

Whatever the reason for its demise, the system lived a life too short, but will always be remembered fondly in the hearts of serious gamers for excellent titles such as Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, Power Stone, Shenmue, and Crazy Taxi, just to name a few. We miss you, Dreamcast.

SEGA Dreamcast 

Sega's last game console. Considered by many to be one of the greatest systems of all time. It died only three years after its launch, due to bad decision-making on a corporate level, no support from EA, and hype from Sony's PlayStation 2. Despite this, the Dreamcast still has a strong following, and games are still being produced for it in Japan. The Dreamcast was innovative in the fact that it was the first next-gen system of the four, had online capabilities right out of the box, and presented the first true 3D Sonic game. Many fans believe that this isn't the last Sega console, and that plans for a new system will begin in at least 6 years, or after Sega pays off their debt.

Sega Dreamcast 

The greatest video games console ever made. Ahead of it's time, heck it offered online play in 1999. Offered great games such as Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Virtua Tennis 1 and 2, Soul Calibur, Marvel vs Capcom and of course introduced us to the NFL 2K series. Sony said that the ps2 was better, many believed it and bought the ps2. The ps2 was not better than the Dreamcast, but because of Sony's bullshit lies, Sega no longer makes consoles and are a shadow of their former selves. Long live the Sega Dreamcast.

a rumor on the internet that sega is suposed to release a so called "dreamcast 2" in semptember 2009(or 2012,depending on where you look),even though sega claimed in 2001 that they were no longer going to make game counsls.all though there are alot of websites that talk about it,there isnt any real proof that such a project is in existance.but there are plenty of rumors around.

SEGA dreamcast 2? is it possible? who knows.
